Defining game area based on personal ability
An individual’s reach depends on the size and motor skills of the individual. In addition to an individual’s physical structure, limited gross motor skills are often due to injury, illness, or stroke. In such cases, it is essential to adapt the games to suit the individual’s specific needs.
Find correct reach
Based on hand reach, we have divided the playing board into three areas (small, medium and large).
In the picture, the defined areas are shown by color: the small area is green (S), the medium area is blue (M), and the large area is red (L). Every game name has a color tag that indicates the area on which the game is played.
To determine the suitable area for a player, we recommend testing with the “Clear All (L)” game. In this game, all lights are turned on, and the player needs to clear them all. If we observe that some lights in a particular area are not reachable, we will prefer games that use a smaller area.
In special cases where some lights are not reachable due to disabilities, the player can still participate. When an unreachable light is on, the game will pause for five seconds before automatically skipping to the next challenge (e.g. light).
